Current Group Members

Barbara Hribar-Lee, Group Leader; Professor of physical chemistry, Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology, University of Ljubljana
Research Activities: Statistical mechanical theories of water and hydration, partly quenched systems, solutions of (poly)electrolytes, and intermolecular interactions and their role in the stability of protein solutions.

Sandi Brudar, Postdoctoral fellow
Research Activities: I have been in love with biophysical chemistry of proteins and their undisputable interconnection with medicine and processes in the body of living organisms since I started working with proteins from rat blood plasma for my bachelor’s degree. I continued gaining interest in the behaviour of protein solutions by applying numerous experimental techniques on a broad group of human and animal proteins. During my doctorate I primarily focused on interparticle interactions and protein aggregation in aqueous protein solutions that include different buffers, electrolytes and other additives. There I began to supplement my broad experimental expertise with the basics of computer simulations and theoretical modelling of protein solutions. I am also very enthusiastic about recombinant DNA technology, residue mutations and antibody formulations.

Matej Jaklin, PhD student
Research Activities: Studying the influence of different excipients on the amyloid fibril formation.

Petra Lapajne, graduate student
Reserach Activities: Studying the influence of polyelectrolytes on the activity coefficient of simple electrolytes in aqueous solutions.

Tibor Mlakar, graduate student
Research Activities: Developing the renormalization procedure to study the adsorption of electrolyte solutions in templated adsorbates.
